Dr. Slim Souissi is the co-founder and CEO of OSPITEK. He is also founder and Chairman of MIOTIV, a fast growing IoT company based in San Diego, CA specialized in developing bespoke SAAS platforms for the healthcare and automotive industries. He is the former president and chief operating officer of Novatel Wireless. He began his career as staff engineer with Motorola in '94 and made key contributions to the architecture of Motorola paging data networks, Flex and ReFlex. In 1997, as a principal engineer, he focused on the architecture of the company’s location based services platform. In 2000, Dr. Souissi joined Novatel Wireless to lead the Software Defined Radio program. He was promoted to chief technology officer and vice president of engineering in 2002. Dr. Souissi guided Novatel Wireless through the worldwide expansion of the mobile broadband market which culminated at a company valuation of more than $800M and an annual revenue of ~ $500M. Dr. Souissi and his engineering team invented the award winning MiFi mobile hotspot creating a global market category worth tens of billions of dollars. Dr. Souissi is the holder of several MiFi essential patents asserted against ZTE and Apple.
After achieving widespread success, MiFi was picked by Time Magazine as one of the greatest and most influential gadgets of the century. The company was named by Forbes as one of the top five most innovative technology companies in America. Dr. Souissi was awarded the distinction of being part of ExecRank’s “Top CTO Rankings” of America in 2013 and 2014. Dr. Souissi holds a MSEE degree from Ecole Central de Marseille, a MS degree in DSP from Supelec, France, a MSEE and a Ph.D from Georgia Tech. He was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni of Georgia Tech. Dr. Souissi is a published IEEE author and holds 60 US patents. He is the recipient of the distinguished innovator award from Motorola and the J.D. innovation award from Novatel Wireless. He serves on the advisory boards of Nextivity, Zyray Wireless and TAM.
